FREE MEALS FOR STUDENTS- EXTENDED
GEN SHEETS
WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 09, 2020
With the holiday season upon us, I just wanted to take a few moments to share my gratitude for this community. Living day to day through a global pandemic that will one day be written about in a history book is strange. What keeps me focused on the positive is our community. Despite what we are dealt, good people float to the top to make our town a better place to be. Thanks to generous donors, we are entering our tenth month of debt free balances on Park 6 student meal accounts.
When I last updated you all, I projected that we would be able to feed any student who chose to eat breakfast and lunch for free up until winter break. I have some great news: Families can count on meals to continue to be free throughout the entire 20-21 school year.
I do, however, have a favor to ask. If you have not already filled out a meal application this school year, please take a few minutes to complete the online form. It is hard to explain the complexities of school funding. One thing is for certain, the number of students we have who qualify for free and reduced meals has a direct impact on the Title I grant-funded programming we are able to provide within our district. Not only does this grant funding supply 10 peoples’ salaries, it provides books and software licenses to help students with reading and math. It also supports professional development to help our staff reach students more effectively.
Please, even if your children have no desire to eat with us at school, can you file an application?
I wish you all a restful and revitalizing winter break. Get out and enjoy that big wonderful Wyoming sky and hold your family close.
